Category

     Each assignment is placed in a category and is given an individual weight.  To calculate the total score for a student, each percentage score is multiplied by its individual weight and added to the appropriate category sub-total.  These category sub-totals are multiplied by the corresponding category weights and added together to obtain a total score.
     One point of extra credit counts as 1/100 of a percentage point towards the total score.  The extra credit scores are therefore added up, divided by 100, and added directly to the total score.
